2018. This album continues the varied-genre content of previous albums, ranging from small intimate jazz sounds to bigger rock punchy songs, gentle ambient moments and a touch of country music.
The songs are themed around rites of passage: the zeitgeist of a moment. Love, loss, betrayal, wedding, Veterans' Day/D-Day, Christmas, and the transience of nature.
Although mainly centred around vocal and piano, most songs feature drums, bass and guitars. Brass weaves here and there, from solo trumpet to full brass band. There are moments of harmonica, a male voice choir, soprano and tenor sax, percussion, male and female lead vocal, rap, harp, full orchestra/big band textures, loops and more.
Thanks to Tom Cantwell on guitar and vocals, Calum Tordoff on harmonica and vocals, David Brewis on guitar and Bridget Enever on saxophone.
It's Summer – celebrating summer vibe and summer love. With a large orchestral treatment and guest rapper Notorious T.
Outdone – rock song about empowerment, a celebration of overcoming bad relationships, featuring a David Brewis guitar solo.
Christmas Tree – Christmas optimism intended to reach out to all as non-denominational.
Fall – straight ahead southern rock pop love song.
Later On Today – intimate, personal song about the loss of a Mother.
Lovers' Sea – upbeat country pop love song featuring guest male lead vocal Tom Cantwell and Calum Tordoff on harmonica alongside full band.
Poppies – the sound of Britishness, featuring a choir and a brass band alongside piano and cello. Every Remembrance service or anniversary of a conflict will not be forgotten.
Made In The Stars – gentle ambient song, Zen, yin and yang ,written as a comforting positive acceptance of bereavement, to empathise with the life-force of the universe. Tom Cantwell on vocals.
One Chance – a soft jazz/Latin song featuring Bridget Enever on soprano sax, a lyric anthem for appreciating nature, time and the world.
Lucy And Stephen's Wedding Day – a joyous story of a happy wedding, set in a reggae groove.
